Average Speed Enforcement
Average speed enforcement has huge impact on vehicle speeds, lane control , crash rates, road safety and public safety outcomes. There is a growing body of evidence to result a number of road safety benefits associated with average speed enforcement, including high rates of compliance with speed limits.Average speed enforcement offers a greater network-wide approach to managing speeds that reduces the impact of time and distance halo effects associated with other automated speed enforcement approaches. Although it represents a highly reliable approach to speed enforcement that produces considerable returns on investment through reduced social and economic costs associated with crashes.
Average speed cameras accurately measure the average speed of a vehicle over a specific distance. When you pass through the first camera, it takes a photo of your vehicle, registering the number plate and the time the photo was taken. When your vehicle passes through the second camera, it takes another photo of your vehicle, again registering the number plate and the time. The system then does a quick calculation, dividing the distance between the cameras by the time taken for the vehicle to travel between the sites. If the average speed of the vehicle is in excess of the speed limit, then the driver of the vehicle has committed a speeding offense

Average Speed Enforcement

Average speed represents a highly reliable approach to speed enforcement that produces considerable returns on investment through reduced social and economic costs associated with crashes.
Average Speed Example

As illustrated in the above figure, when a Vehicle pass through point (A) ,The system takes a photo of your vehicle, registering the number plate and the time the photo was taken. When your vehicle passes through point (B) , The system takes another photo of your vehicle, again registering the number plate and the time. The system then does a quick calculation, dividing the distance between Point(A) and Point (B), by the time taken for the vehicle to travel between the sites. If the average speed of the vehicle violated the Speed Limit , then the driver of the vehicle has committed a speeding offense.and violation ticket will be issued.
